Jérôme Gercet,
Knight of the Order
of Academic Palms

During a ceremony held at La Résidence de France, the home of the French Embassy, on 18 June 2021, The French Ambassador in Belgium, Ms Hélène Farnaud-Defromont, awarded Mr Jérôme GERCET, Headteacher of the EFI Brussels, the status of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of Academic Palms – the French equivalent of a Queen’s honour).

This award recognises Mr Gercet’s rich and diverse professional career, marked by its truly international nature and his unwavering commitment to education and young people.

Introduced by Napoleon in 1808 and later revamped in 1955, the Ordre des Palmes Académiques recognises academics and other members of the academic community for their outstanding contribution to education and academia.
