November's newsletter

Being the last month before Christmas and the end of the first semester, November is a crucial month for the year. At EFI Bucarest, it was filled with activities and plans for what’s to come.

Building skills in french orthography

In CP, students learn to read using a very specific method: encoding. Each letter, and every combination of letters, is tied to the sound it produces. These possibilities are laid out like a branching tree, turning the act of writing any word from its pronunciation into a full-on investigation! In CE2, consolidation of acquired knowledge involves developing fluency in French: weekly dictation related to activities in class, vocabulary reinforcement, and poetry study.

Les assemblées

The MS/GS classes, as well as the CP, CE1, and CE2, attended assemblies led by Maria in three languages. These assemblies focused on the topic of consent. The children first listened to a story, then returned to their classrooms to put the concepts they had learned into practice through drawing and reflection workshops.

Așa începe petrecerea

It's the birthday of a friend of ours that we would like to celebrate: Romania! At the end of the month, the CMs prepared presentations on Romanian heroes of the First World War for the occasion. Cards were made where students from across the school could leave messages.

Growing Little Champions!

On a small cart, plants are moved between classrooms... it's our educational garden! Since October, kindergarten classes have been taking care of aromatic plants and sprouting seeds. But for Sântandrei, the project was opened up to first and second graders, who were able to sow their wheat during Romanian class and learn about this tradition. So many predictions for the year ahead!

On your marks, get set... recycle!

A beloved tradition at EFI Bucharest: the CE1 students enjoyed their upcycling club. The first activity of the year consisted in portraits made from recycled materials. For Christmas, the students are making adorable decorations out of recycled egg cartons to decorate their classroom trees. Creativity knows no bounds!

Start their future today!
